# Plans and AI turns

> What each plan includes, what an AI turn is, and what happens when the allowance runs out.

A plan belongs to an **organization**, the GitHub account that installed the App, and covers every repository it has switched on. There is no per-seat and no per-repository price: invite the whole team.

| | Trial | Starter | Pro | Enterprise |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Price | \$0 for 14 days, card required | \$19 / month | \$49 / month | Custom |
| AI turns | 50 for the whole trial | 100 per billing period | 500 per billing period | Custom |
| Repositories | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Seats | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Console | Full | Full | Full | Full |

There is no free tier. For Enterprise, write to [contact@codewarden.co](mailto:contact@codewarden.co).

## What an AI turn is

**One AI turn is one call to the language model on your behalf.** Two things use one:

* **a review of a push that brings new code** to a pull request;
* **an answer to a mention** of `@codewardenapp` in one of CodeWarden's threads.

These use none:

* a push with nothing new to review (status `no_changes`);
* a pull request skipped by `.codewarden.yml`;
* a review or answer that fails;
* a review or mention refused because the repository is off, the installation is suspended, there is no subscription, or the allowance is used up;
* a mention CodeWarden ignores or refuses.

A follow-up review that finds nothing **does** use one: the model was called. A review retried after a failure counts once, when it succeeds.

## The billing period

The allowance is counted over **your subscription's billing period**, not the calendar month. A subscription that starts on the 12th renews on the 12th, and its allowance resets then.

The organization page and **Plan & billing** (`/orgs/<login>/billing`) show `N of M AI turn(s) used this period` with the period's dates. The page warns when the allowance is nearly used up.

## When the allowance runs out

CodeWarden stops reviewing the organization's pull requests and answering mentions until the next billing period starts or an owner changes the plan.

* **Nothing is posted on the pull request.** There is no "upgrade to continue" comment.
* Each skipped review is recorded in the console with the status `over_allowance`, so you can see what was not reviewed.
* Pushes made while paused are not reviewed later on their own. The next push after the allowance is back is reviewed, compared against the last review that was delivered, so it covers the paused pushes too.

## Changing or cancelling a plan

Owners manage billing from **Plan & billing → Manage billing**, which opens the customer portal of **Polar**, our merchant of record. There you can change the plan, update the payment method, read invoices, or cancel.

CodeWarden never receives or stores your card details; Polar collects them directly.

If a payment fails, the subscription keeps working while Polar retries the card and emails you. A cancelled subscription runs to the end of the period you paid for. With no live subscription, pull requests are not reviewed and each skipped review is recorded with the status `unsubscribed`.
